The British luxury marquee unveiled a new standard version of its luxury sedan on Monday. The latest version of the S model offers a sporty four-door hatchback and is expected to feature a number of upgrades that make it the best driver of the moment.
The Bentley saloon is about as close as cars come. The new Flying Spur S looks faster and faster, though. The main difference between it and the rest is the lack of chrome. Almost everything that shone on the sedan is now covered in gloss black, including the grille and window, while the front and rear lights have been given a black finish. There are two new styles to choose from: a 21-inch three-spoke rim in gloss black or a 22-inch five-spoke Y-shaped rim in gloss black or Pale Brodgar Satin. All together to give the car a new look.
The interior has also been refreshed a bit. The difference is found in the two-tone sports that combine leather and suede called Dinamica. Upholstery with piping and quilting is available as an option. The hood is decorated with an “S” or Bentley logo. Bentley hasn’t announced a top speed for the hybrid, but you can drive 42km on electric power alone. Both powertrains are mated to the Flying Spur’s standard 8-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
Other mechanical upgrades include a full steering wheel, for better control, and Bentley Dynamic Ride, which the marque calls its anti-roll bars. Every Flying Spur S also comes with red-painted brake calipers, to differentiate it from other models.
We’ll see the Flying Spur S in action later this month when it makes its public appearance at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. No release date has been announced, but it’s sometime in 2023 so we’re expecting it to hit these shores later this year. No price has been announced, either, since then, but we expect it to be in the $200,000 range.
